Weddings at the Gasworks Sudbury

The Gasworks Sudbury is a beautiful new wedding venue situated on the edge of the Derbyshire Dales, lying in the heart of the Historical village of Sudbury.
If you choose to hold your wedding with us you will have exclusive use of the venue and its grounds.
We are only available for wedding hires on a Saturday between April and October inclusive. As part of your booking you will have exclusive use from 4pm on the Friday until Midday on the Sunday to allow you or your suppliers to set up and take down.
The Venue
The Sudbury Gasworks Restoration Trust have rescued and restored this charming Grade II listed building. Famous architect, George Devey, designed the building and it produced gas for Sudbury Hall and residents of the village.
The Retort
The Retort is the original Grade II listed building where you will hold your wedding ceremony. Featuring red brick walls and a vaulted ceiling with exposed iron work. The space has an industrial feel to it which is softened by the oak wood floor. The Retort can hold up to 50 guests.
The Glazed Link
Between the Retort and the Gas Holder lies The Glazed Link linking the new with the old part of the building. It provides the perfect space for your guests to enjoy drinks and canapés before the wedding breakfast. This light and airy room also features the historic brick diaper pattern seen on the outside of the building and has access to our newly finished courtyard area.
The Gas Holder
Derbyshires only round wedding reception room the Gas Holder is the newest addition to the site. Constructed on the foot print of the original gas holder we have created a unique and stunning reception room. It is perfect for you to hold your wedding breakfast and reception party in. The room can hold up to 80 seated for a wedding breakfast or 120 evening guests.
Our Grounds
You will have exclusive access to our grounds including our woodland area with winding path and the rear courtyard area. There are so many stunning backdrops to capture memories of your special day, including the building.
A day tailored to you
Our wedding coordinator Lisa will be on hand throughout your wedding to ensure everything runs smoothly on the big day. Lisa will be your first point of contact from initial enquiry to the final cutting of the cake.
Our team has hand-picked some of the best local caterers to work with. You can be sure the finest details will be taken care of.
As well as our chosen catering teams, we work with a group of small local businesses which come highly recommended, to create the wedding day perfect for each of our couples, including florists, venue stylists, photographers and videographers, cake creators and more.
